work today was okay — i didn’t have to do too much work, only from 7am-9am, and then i was in a training class about business grammar from 9am-4pm. very good class! now i know when to use who vs. whom, among other things.
after that, i headed to the bank, deposited grandmother and grandaddy’s check and picked up some cash at the ATM so i’d have enough money in my account for when my gas purchase for my car from yesterday goes through and so i’d have money for a haircut.
since i desperately needed a haircut, and since i’d have to be in baltimore anyways from some time between 8pm-10pm to fill out an application to work the front desk at howl at the moon, i went to the beatnik barbershop for my haircut since i had heard decent things about it, and since they had won awards for best mens’ haircut in baltimore. i don’t think it’s that bad of a cut, either, and that’s what counts the most.
after the haircut i still had about an hour before 8pm, so i wandered around baltimore… parked the car on the far side of little italy, walked through little italy, past the aquarium, through harborplace, past the science center, and up federal hill park. i think i’ll go up there next week (once i see if i get a tripod for christmas) so i can take a photo like this of baltimore — one of my old coworkers who i worked with at headquarters moved down to florida a few months back, and she said if i took a photo like that of baltimore she’d buy a print of it from me.
walked back through harborplace, and since i was still a bit early i ducked into best buy to warm up and poke around, though i wasn’t buying anything; i’ve already got my christmas shopping done (it just needs to be picked up at the post office tomorrow), and i didn’t have any spare cash. even curling tomorrow is a no-go since i won’t have the $10. oh well. anyway, ducked into howl at the moon and filled out an application (i was surprised that there were even people in there at 8pm on a wednesday night, even though there couldn’t have been more than ten customers), and they said that they’d most likely be looking through them after new year’s, and that’s fine by me. on one hand i’d like to get the job for some extra cash, but on the other hand i don’t really want to. *shrug*
came back here after that, took the photo of me with my haircut, and poked around the internet for the past few hours. coworker buddy kendrick called me up for directions into annapolis and i told him about recent turns of events and he got a good laugh out of them.
i gave away $2.75 tonight to people who asked while i was walking around: a woman under a blanket (i felt bad for saying “have a good night” after i gave her some change), a man trying to get some food, and another man who needed to scrape together $20 for a cab fare home. now my wallet is empty. i wish i was able to do more, though i can’t help but feel like i’m doing this to improve my karma… especially after what i’ve been through these past few weeks! in almost all aspects of my life, i can use all the help i can get!
