#3246 – vintage clothing

This was posted over 20 years ago; my opinions, thoughts, attitude, and writing style may have evolved since then, and this post might have been different if it were to be posted today.

the odd thing about vintage clothing: i bought this short-sleeved butterscotch-plaid colored shirt in new orleans, and now that i’ve ironed it here in the hotel it smells like grandparents’ basements and old board games.

i ironed it and put it on and saw in the mirror that one of the sides was still wrinkled. i had thought that i had ironed the whole thing, but i put it back on the ironing board and ironed it again. i put it back on and saw that it was still wrinkled. figuring it needed more heat i turned up the iron and ironed it again. it still was wrinkled. i ironed it again (getting aggravated this time) and put it on and realized that the left half of the shirt was very warm, while the right half (where the wrinkles were) was not. i had noticed that there was a pocket on the side that needed to be ironed, and figuring that the pocket on mens’ shirts is on the left hand side, that was the side i had been ironing. turns out the right hand side has a pocket as well.

tricky things, these mirrors.

someone knocked on the door after i had taken my shower. they didn’t try to open it or anything (it’s locked and deadbolted and everything, so good luck trying to get in), and they didn’t slide anything under the door. i looked through the peephole and didn’t see anybody. wonder what they were knocking about?

i am also annoyed at mcdonald’s. they ought to serve egg mcmuffins (yum yum delish) at all hours, not just before 11 am. i often go to bed wanting one, but can never get out and about before they stop serving breakfast, and who wants hamburgers at 11 am? not me! i swear, i’d eat breakfast all the time if i could get egg mcmuffins at a decent hour. and what’s up with hotel breakfast times? 6 – 9 am? who’s up at that hour?? again, not me!

i tried to update last night about uploading pictures to flickr, but it didn’t post for some reason. hrm.

someone just started knocking again at the door and tried to open it, but this time i beat them to the punch…

lady: “are you checking out or staying?”

me: “uh, checking out.”

lady: “ok! no problem!” *walks away with baggage cart*

anyway, so i tried to update livejournal about uploading pictures to flickr, but it didn’t post for some reason. not a big deal, because i tried to have it upload the pictures while i slept and after only a few pictures it said it didn’t like the format of one picture (a plain ‘ol jpeg) and it couldn’t upload it for some odd reason. weird, because i was able to upload it once i woke up without any problems. so only some of the 200+ pictures uploaded last night.
