#1947 – silly congresscritter

This was posted over 22 years ago; my opinions, thoughts, attitude, and writing style may have evolved since then, and this post might have been different if it were to be posted today.

“The U.S. House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to roll back a key provision, which allows the government to conduct secret “sneak and peek” searches of private property, of a sweeping anti-terrorism law passed soon after the Sept. 11 attacks…

The move would block the Justice Department from using any funds to take advantage of the section of the act that allows it to secretly search the homes of suspects and only inform them later that a warrant had been issued to do so…

“Not only does this provision allow the seizure of personal and business records without notification, but it also opens the door to nationwide search warrants and allowing the CIA and NSA to operate domestically,” said the amendment’s sponsor, Idaho Republican Rep. C.L. “Butch” Otter.”

silly congresscritter, the CIA can’t spy on us citizens… that’s a job for the fbi!

today in japan class today we talked about japanese business practices – kind of boring. came home for a while and stueypark wondered if i wanted to head to zenmetsu‘s place with him, so we went to dan’s place and hung out for a bit and then went to a few anime stores and looked around… dan ended up buying an anime magazine, and then we came back to his place, watched the dvd that came with the magazine, and came back home. whee.
