after returning from the trip to england, it feels totally weird to be back at home now. not because i’m back in the us or anything like that, but because i’ve spent a whole week just hanging out with cynicalscribe where we generally minded our business most of the time and didn’t constantly get all up in each other’s business or feel that we had to talk to each other just to talk or anything like that. no, now that i’m back it feels like i’m living in the middle of grand central station with people talking and moving about and doing things and such when it’s really just the same as before, me living at home with mom and dad and anne.
i mean, yay, it’s nice to see them again, but internally i’m all “SHUT UP. SHUT UP. SHUT. UP.“, and totally feel bad/selfish for feeling that way, even if i really just want to have some peace and quiet and not be distracted from other people doing their own things. in short: i wish i was a monk. nice quiet solitude. 😛
today was the first day back at work, and today and tomorrow i’m taking a class on giving presentations. my supervisor made it mandatory, but it’s a lot more interesting and more fun than i expected it to be. so far we’ve given 3 or 4 presentations each (2 of these were videotaped so we can critique our progress), and tomorrow we’ll do another presentation or two. two of our presentations today were impromptu persuasive presentations we had to prepare and do with only a few minutes of preparation (the presentations themselves only had to be a minute or two long), and since the first one was just before breaking for lunch i did one on Why We Should Stop For Lunch, and since i got my lunch from potbelly and most of my coworkers got theirs from chipotle (and regretted it later) because they thought the line at potbelly was long, my second one was on Why You Should Have Eaten At Potbelly since it had to relate to our first impromptu presentation.
i still need to get my photos from the trip uploaded; looks like that’ll have to wait until tomorrow. 🙁 even though i got home about an hour earlier than usual because of this training, i’m too wiped out now to do anything about uploading / captioning / etc. now, and i also want to edit / upload my videos at the same time too. perhaps tomorrow.
i told my coworkers about my trip, and my supervisor suggested offhand that with all the traveling i’ve done to the uk, maybe i should look into a position with vodafone since they own 45% of verizon wireless already. i wonder how that would even work, or even if that would be possible??
