you know, i didn’t think i’d really care about gmail ever introducing imap (folks online were all “GIMME IMAP ZOMG MUST HAVE”), and i guess i was soured on the idea of imap by the implementation we had at umbc — what good is storing your email on the school/company/whoever’s server when you’ve got some dumb limit of 50 megs for email or whatever? you’re going to have to clear it out sometime!
well, google introduced imap for gmail today, and holy crap is it nice! i can’t believe i’m getting this excited about email… well, as excited as i can about RFC 3501, at least. since i spend all day at work checking my personal email via gmail on my phone’s WAP browser and then when i get home i have to sort through all the emails i already read and delete the spam messages i already deleted on my phone so they don’t sully up my computer’s inbox, well, now i can mark them as read or whatever and i won’t have to duplicate work! how good is that!
