yesterday:

got gas in the car, stopped off at the ATM and drove up to philadelphia. the ride up wasn’t too bad except for one part before a toll in delaware where traffic was just stop and creep, and because of that i got up to philadelphia later than i was expecting – i arrived in time to see the 3rd and final period of the mobtown maulers vs. grand raggidy match. took some photos of that, wandered around the sportsplex where the east coast extravaganza was being held, but soon had to leave so i could head back this way for partying it up for st. patrick’s day. before i left, though, i saw this one guy taking pictures and he saw that we were using the same lens and we gave each other a thumbs-up.

stopped off at staples and best buy in annapolis so i could buy pens, a 2 gig compactflash card for my camera and steno pads from staples and a spare battery for my camera and some AA batteries for my flash. i seriously think that the guy who helped me out at staples was “fat tony” from high school, because, well, he was fat, looked like “fat tony”, and had a name-tag that said “TONY”. i would have thought that he’d be ruling the mafia by now, hahaha…

stopped off at the house, grabbed my sleeping bag, headed off to the apartment, got my pajamas and booze and went to party it up with spoothed, bruno_boy, mytinyworld, kevin, and several other people. michele (one of my old friends from elementary school) was there, so that was another unexpected person surprise for the night. we played karaoke revolution and guitar hero and by the end of the night sarah and kevin and some other guy and myself made a pillow fort complete with blanket-roof and had a slumber party. sarah and i kept laughing about this video (and i totally blame aeire, totally!!) and so we showed it to kevin and the other guy and “what what” and “in the butt” became the running jokes for the rest of the night before we fell asleep:

today:

left the slumber party around 10:30 am, stopped at the apartment for a quick shower and to get my camera and such and drove back up to philadelphia. this time there was an accident that had all lanes on 95 closed and so i had to take the alternate route and that added about 30 minutes or so to the trip and only really moved me 5 or 6 miles up the highway. at least i didn’t need to sit in traffic.

i think i saw part of the mobtown mauler’s bout before it ended, and then i took photos of the steel city roller girls (pittsburgh) vs. the long island roller rebels match. at one point i saw the guy i gave the thumbs-up to yesterday and (expecting he was someone else i knew of) started talking to him about flickr and the charm city roller girls. when this guy said he was “king taco” then i knew he wasn’t who i thought he was, but when he heard that i’m “globalglenn” on flickr he responded with “no way!! i was looking online at the charm city roller girls’ photo pool on there and saw this picture that was really good and it was one of yours!”, hahaha… apparently he even commented on it that morning too, hahaha. bought a few raffle tickets for the charity auction as well as a program and a seat cushion (and that seat cushion was the best $3 i have ever spent!). took pictures of the mobtown maulers vs. detroit match and a few pictures of the philly roller girls vs. the big easy roller girls (new orleans) match as well before leaving at 8.

it seriously took me exactly 2 1/2 hours to get back to the apartment. left at 8, got to the apartment at 10:30 pm. and now i’m SO SICK of driving on I-95, i never want to see it again. ugh. going back and forth to new york on thursday, and then back and forth to philadelphia on saturday and sunday both is a bit much.

i wonder if there’s a database online of roller derby names? i thought up some good ones if i ever ended up doing roller derby during my drive, and i got to thinking how i don’t believe i’ve ever seen a duplication of names.
