#4378 – places to go, people to see, pants to get into

This was posted over 19 years ago; my opinions, thoughts, attitude, and writing style may have evolved since then, and this post might have been different if it were to be posted today.

my eyes are bothering me like they’re really dry. my right eye especially. hrmph.

i went clothes shopping today, just like i planned. i had been wanting some new jeans (my current pairs of jeans have holes in the knees), and i also wanted to find some new shirts and such as well. i wanted to get fossil jeans (just like my current ones) since they were very comfortable and fit perfectly, but the problem was that the fossil store that had them around here has closed up, and though their site says they sell the clothes and such in macy’s, nordstrom’s, and other similar places, the only actual fossil outlet stores close to here are in hagerstown (far) or fairfax (not as far but still far).

first i went to columbia mall and walked through there like a man on a mission – i had places to go, people to see, and pants to get into. plus, i was walking around in such a way since i’m me and i’m just that awesome. i’m even so awesome i sent my free valentine’s day gift on facebook to… myself!

bahahahaha!

so i looked through macy’s, jc penny, and nordstrom, and no sign of fossil jeans. i bumped into shortieterp and her mom in nordstrom as well. kkthemook apparently saw me in the mall, probably because she is stalking me.

since i couldn’t find the jeans in the retail stores, i figured i’d try one of their outlet stores. hagerstown is about an hour or more away (farrr), but fairfax was only 30-40 minutes away. google maps couldn’t show me the location of the store for some reason (i think it was confused by “lee jackson memorial highway”), but after looking at the map and seeing that fair oaks shopping mall was near where the outlet store should be, and seeing that the phone number was the same for both the outlet store and the location in the mall, i figured i’d go to the mall and check that out.

45 minutes later (i got stuck in traffic) i got to the mall and apparently they only sell watches and handbags and belts at this place and no jeans! and i wasn’t going to buy my jeans online through their site, i wanted to try them on first. i figured it was a lost cause at this point and started to wander the mall to find out what other jeans i might find.

in macy’s i found some levi’s, and after some try-all and error i worked out that i liked their relaxed fit jeans in a 32×32 size and bought myself two pairs – $34.99 each marked down to $29.99, so i got myself two pairs of jeans for what one pair would have cost me through fossil online, not too bad! (and what is up with charging $60-70 per pair of jeans? it’s not like they’re super rare… or maybe they are and that’s why i can’t find them anywhere!)

after that i moseyed around the mall and when i’d find someplace that sold guys’ clothing i stopped in to poke around.

my next stop was in jc penny, and after poking around i found these hooded sweatshirts (grey with a sort of turquoise/teal panel across the shoulders) on a rack marked $7.97. unfortunately they were all extra-large, and just by looking at them i knew they wouldn’t fit me. still, i looked around some more and found one other sweatshirt just like those but as a large and it looked much more likely to fit, and it did. the cashier asked if i had one of the jc penny cards, and when i told her i didn’t she scanned one of these 20% off coupons so i ended up getting this sweatshirt for $6-something. original price? $40! not bad!

after some more looking around i ended up in express men and poked around a bit in there as well. i found this green and white sort of track jacket (marked $50, with $20 off to bring it to $30) and two art-tees (~$36 for two, when normally $22-24 each). stylin’!

after all that i wanted to find some kickin’ shoes, but the mall was getting ready to close shortly so i just skedaddled with my loot. i need to find some shoes, though. something stylin’. maybe some pumas. festive thinks spoothed should assist with this venture. maybe i might even get two pairs if the mood suits me. that mongolian shoe bbq option is sure an interesting idea!
