#4377 – vive la france!

This was posted over 19 years ago; my opinions, thoughts, attitude, and writing style may have evolved since then, and this post might have been different if it were to be posted today.

in a nutshell:

yesterday i bought a film scanner! i tried it out at home last night and brought it to the apartment today.

today i picked up bruno_boy (well, first i followed a cute girl in a maroon ford focus with temporary tags, and then she started following me almost right up to dave’s house – she pulled in to a cul-de-sac just around the corner from his house, and i didn’t think until afterwards to use my “hey, sexy” sign in my mini – oh well). we went to the university of maryland book exchange so i could get the textbook for my science class, and then we went to dematha for the first annual student/faculty/staff/alumni art show to see what people had done. when we were walking past the school i stopped and said “let’s pause here in remembrance of… the apple.”, and dave bust up laughing. (zenmetsu and a few others should catch the reference). afterwards, we went to mcdonald’s for lunch and listened to some crazy girl at the table next to us go on and on about nbc saturday morning cartoons, the smurfs, gargamel wanting turnips, how they weren’t showing muppet babies anymore even though new episodes were always being made, and other bizarre things. dave and i had to keep from laughing that entire time.

then we went to penn camera so i could drop off my rolls of film (1 roll of kodak gold and 2 rolls of tri-x) to get developed. the guy who was helping me out was new and needed assistance, and the girl who came over to help him out was pretty cute. dave thought she was pretty ugly, but i didn’t think so and said “oh well, more for me!” unfortunately she told me my film won’t be developed until tuesday or wednesday, so i’m going to have to go without playing with my film scanner until then. 🙁

we took the stuff i had in my car (computer, film scanner, and a bunch of other crap) up to the apartment, and then we rolled up to baltimore to go to the soundgarden. i was in a mood last night to watch “amelie”, and apparently feisty_fitz had taken the dvd out of its dvd case and brought it up with her to school in new york in her cd case. since i wanted to get myself my own copy to watch, dave and i poked around the soundgarden for used cds/dvds. i ended up buying “return of the golden rhodes” by the baldwin brothers – i already have another album from them, i had been wanting to hear more stuff like theirs, and one of the guys in the band looks a bit like whammywah:

i also bought the 2-cd version of frank zappa’s “the mofo project/object”, a making-of album for “freak out”, and 200 motels (the dvd and its case look so much like a bootleg, hahaha):

tomorrow i’m going to try to do some… clothes-shopping! dun dun dunnn…
