today we went to ikea to return the bed that we purchased yesterday (mom and festive and i found me a bed yesterday, and i had thought i had a queen size mattress when i actually have a double). so, the whole family met up today to return the bed for a size for my mattress, and to pick up a few other things too. well, we returned the one i had bought yesterday, went through the showroom and all, and even though this morning it said that the bed i wanted was in stock it wasn’t when we got down to the self-serve area. they said they’d have it in again tomorrow though. the thing is, i wanted this headboard/drawer thing to go with it, but they only make this headboard thing with the queen size bedframe and not for the smaller full-size bedframe.
we ended up buying back the exact same stuff that we returned earlier. at least my chair ownership has also increased by 1. i was also able to pick up some neat new speaker-stands at circuit city while we were out, too.
so today the family and bruno_boy and i moved the stuff out of the family’s van and into the apartment: one bed, one headboard/shelf set, one dresser, one chair, and a dining room table. the table was a great bargain for me: since ikea was doing a big ol’ sale, the stuff in their as-is department was even 50% off of the listed price, and there was a black-brown table there for $244 (normally $350), but with the 50% off it’d be $122! problem was it was already assembled, and had a few slight scratches in the finish but nothing major – we’d just have to disassemble it ourselves. well, we ended up finding the exact same table but a different color (beech, instead of black-brown), same price, and this one was only in a damaged package and the part of the packaging with the damage was on the underside of the table. in fact, i don’t think even there on the underside there was anything damaged at all. so, $350 table -> $122 table. that’s a fantastic deal! it was a little tough getting it up the stairs, but we did it!
tomorrow i need to see about what i’d need to get this bed set up and to look into ordering a new mattress…
there’s so many things i’ve been needing to do (need to organize through some of my mail – both electronic and snail – for example) and a couple other things done that i’ve been putting off too. problem is i’ve been so busy with all this other stuff i haven’t really had time. i can’t wait to get all my stuff situated and put together. i need to take pictures of this place too.
ok, i need to go to bed now, i’m falling asleep and need to work at 9 am…
