Rufus T. Firefly: I’d be unworthy of the high trust that’s been placed in me if I didn’t do everything in my power to keep our beloved Freedonia in peace with the world. I’d be only too happy to meet with Ambassador Trentino, and offer him on behalf of my country the right hand of good fellowship. And I feel sure he will accept this gesture in the spirit of which it is offered. But suppose he doesn’t. A fine thing that’ll be. I hold out my hand and he refuses to accept. That’ll add a lot to my prestige, won’t it? Me, the head of a country, snubbed by a forgein ambassador. Who does he think he is, that he can come here, and make a sap of me in front of all my people? Think of it – I hold out my hand and that hyena refuses to accept. Why, the cheap ball-pushing swine, he’ll never get away with it I tell you, he’ll never get away with it.
Rufus T. Firefly: So, you refuse to shake hands with me, eh?
[slaps Trentino with his glove]
sadly, that’s kind of how my brain acts 90% of the time; i should really try to keep from overanalyzing things, i guess. at least this is the sort of self-observation that i don’t need a 7x mirror for (and 7x mirrors are scary, and 10x mirrors are even worse. you can see EVERYTHING on your face in those things! yikes! we found both in a store up in new york). i just happened to notice this weekend that no matter what happens with something or another, i’m always assuming the worst and stressing about it to some degree.
so we went up to new york city to see feisty_fitz‘s ship depart; it was originally scheduled to depart on saturday, but it didn’t due to mechanical issues (something had to run for 24 hours straight without failing, and it failed). at one part they weren’t sure if they’d be leaving on sunday or not, but they did leave on sunday and just about at the predicted time, too.
i had to drive the family’s nissan back home (kelly had it on campus, and we needed to get her stuff and the car back to the house). i wish i had my mini cooper, but oh well… so what i was in a car that i didn’t know how to drive well (it handles like a boat, the steering is so loose on it it seems), but then again i was in new york city so it’s not like nobody else is that great of a driver, either.
i took 2+ gigs of pictures. yes, 2+ GIGS. 273 photos! also got a video or two of the ship departing, complete with ship tooting. i finally got all the pictures edited for colors and such, and tomorrow i’ll have to figure out which ones i want to upload.
unfortunately we did not get a chance to go into the city to see the apple store. 🙁 ah well. festive and i say we should make a road trip up there sometime, and since it’s open 24 hours we are SO going to go at 3 am for kicks.
ok, time for bed; i was late again on friday due to rackum-frackum traffic just slowing down for NO APPARENT REASON. wtf, traffic? wtf.
