#3212 – coincidence?

meowremix3804 sent me emails yesterday about how at her job they’ve got a job opening for a new purchaser… the baltimore sun ran this article the same day. coincidence? who knows…

it reminds me of this other article, and in a way i do feel a bit like i don’t get respect at work. it’s ranged from people not knowing how to spell my name (surprise, surprise, but how hard is it to remember that second “n” at the end of my name?? i’m seriously considering replying to anybody who spells my name “glen” with dropping the last letter of their name off – “matt” = “mat”, “george” = “georg”, and “frank” = “fran”, for example. that’ll show ’em!), to corporate and upper managers taking ideas i suggested and acting like they thought it up all along. seriously! a few weeks after google sms debuted, one of my coworkers wondered what the number to a resturant was, so i searched it up using text messaging and didn’t really think that much else of it, until i went in for my interview as assistant manager of operations. one of the questions was something along the lines of “give an example of when you told one of your coworkers about something that could help them in the workplace”, and i brought that up and realized that it could help coworkers with their presentation of data services, so i emailed it out to a bunch of coworkers that i thought could use it. next thing i know, the district manager is faxing the contents of MY EMAIL out (only page 1 of 2 for some reason… and i know it’s mine because i compared it against what i typed up from the google description) saying “HAY GUYS LOOK AT THIS COOL NEW THING!” no mention of me and my suggestion anywhere. i go in for my interview as inventory control specialist at a different store and mention that to the store manager there, and the he says “oh, that was you??” 😛

yesterday i got this weekly training sheet from one of my managers (personally, i think that these weekly training sheets are a waste of time – i was hired based on my skills, and not whether or not i am able to write down 3-5 things that the training sheet was about!), and this weekly training sheet – FROM WASHINGTON/BALTIMORE/VIRGINIA CORPORATE OR HIGHER – has a writeup on how to search google with text messaging! and still the only people who knew it was me who sent it out were the people i originally sent it to. *grumble* i figured that i had to stay a step or two ahead of corporate, so i forwarded the original email out to a bunch of new people that didn’t get it the first time, as well as all the people who got it originally, and included the new features of movie searching and weather forecasts XD it’s my idea, MINE! -_-;; it’s not every day that a simple suggestion ends up getting scattered around companywide! 😛

i just know though that if i ever do get recognized for sending it out, they’ll end up spelling my name wrong. *sigh* no respect at all, i tells ya…
