well, here it is – the long-awaited england post, hehe… for part of the trip when i was on the plane or in the airports i used my handspring as a journal, so some of the posts have a bit more of a journal-entry feel than the rest of the post (which is more of a narrative).
1:40 pm: “Ask DNA”, Yoko Kanno
At PIT. Flight here was uneventful. Nothing to do for 4 hours. There’s a Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood exhibit here. There’s also a Verizon Wireless kiosk here too, hehe. I guess I’ll take a look into some of the shops here then go find some eats since I skipped breakfast. I’ve also been recording the registrations of the planes I’ve seen – did you know there’s an Air Force reserve base here? I saw some fighter jet take off just as I landed. Really cool.
3:11 pm: “Hey Bartender”, The Blues Bros.
Got eats at McDonald’s. Walked around the airport and browsed the stores. Recorded the regs and specs on 18 planes – most were US Airways (this *is* a US hub). Not much else in variety.
I found a Cowboy Bebop manga in one store and bought it to read while I’m sitting here waiting for 2 hours or so.
I <3 my iPod. 🙂 Dunno what I'd do if I didn't have my mad collection of mp3s to cart around with me. They just said that we might start getting on in 15 minutes, but the flight isn't supposed to leave for 2 hours, hah. I wish I had some way to upload these to my journal from here... guess I'll just post them when I either get to a computer or get back home. ------------- 4:23 pm: “Ice Ice Baby”, Vanilla Ice
The ticket agent is talking in German right now. Probably has something to do with the flight to Frankfurt at the gate next to my flight, but it confused me for a moment, hehe.
Now I’m just sitting here waiting for them to start the boarding in 20 minutes.
11:07 pm, London time (6:07 pm EST): “Main Theme”, The Great Escape
We’re in flight now. I’m sitting next to this guy named Adam who looks about my age. Cool guy.
This cracks me up – I was just browsing through the inflight entertainment thingy they have here, and one of the things they have in the audio section is the soundtrack to “The Great Escape”, hehe.
